Burning Passion was done during a time when I wasn’t planning my pieces. Instead, I would intuitively make a canvas and then observe it for a couple of days until an idea came to me. This came from an idea from the book “Big Magic” that if an idea wants to be made, it will find a person willing to bring it to life. So I waited and listened.

After staring at the canvas for a couple of days I began to see an area that almost looked like the beginnings of a skull. Once I started roughing in a figure I wanted to have it dissolve into the paint pour that was on the canvas. I couldn’t quite decide between fire or water so I used both. It became an expression of powerful, overwhelming emotions and having them pour out of yourself.
